If you haven't already booked, I'd suggest a night flight, if you can get direct...or, if you have to change, try to have the longest leg coincide with her naptime--that way, she'll be more likely to sleep through it. I disagree with the need to buy her a seat-- if that were the case, airlines wouldn't have the whole infant in arms option! Actually, she might feel more comfortable on your lap, anyway!! I'd definitely bring a bottle for take-off-- the swallowing helps with ears popping!Any advice on how to fly with a baby?
I just flew to el paso from Tennesse, and then back. I went on 5 airplanes total trip. They are having a hard time filling seats, on all my flights there were empty seats. Take your car seat with you to the air port, at the gate before they board ask if there are any empty seats for you to be moved because of your baby. They will most likely tell you yes, and the seat. Then you take your car seat on the plane, put it in the next seat, and your baby will sleep through most of the flight, then she will being trying to get away. My son is 11 months. On one plane I didn't bring the carseat because I didn't know if there were free seats (there were). If he's in the car seat he's okay because he's used to it, but when he is in my arms on that flight it was really hard, because he couldn't understand why I was restraining him. Take snacks (gold fish and little gummys or yogurt snacks) I took his baby lap top and this little rattle he likes. Good luck! Remember to have fromula and juice for her during departure and arrival, although my baby fell asleep on every plane before we even took off!
You can only take a car seat on a plane IF:

1) You have a ticket for the baby

2) The car seat meets the safety guidelines of the country the airline is owned by, which in this case would mean the car seat would have to be approved by the FAA

3) If required you have webbing/other equipment that is needed to safely use the seat on an airplane.
It's not any safer for a baby to fly without a car seat than it is to ride in a car without one.

You have to buy a seat for your child, but it will be less than your fair.

Unless something has changed very recently, you will not be allowed to board with a car seat unless you have a ticket for a seat for the car seat.
Good to hear you're visiting the NC. B]

Just make sure you cover their ears during lift off and touch down.

That's when you get that popping in your ears, the decline and the take off, and she'll probably scream to all hell if her ears are popping to much.
